Born on 18th May, Mumbai Shankaranarayanan began his training  under Guru Shri. Ramanathan.  He continued his training under KARAIKUDI Shri R. CHANDRAMOULI of Shri Shanmukananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha.

He has performed widely in India as well as abroad accompanying well known musicians.  He has had the honour of performing at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of His Excellency President Shri. R. Venkataraman and at the Raj Bhavan, Mumbai in the presence of His Excellency Governor Shri. C. Subramanium accompanying Smt. Aruna Sairam.
