Sashank Sridhar

Sashank Sridhar is a rising sophomore pursuing Engineering Science in the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State University. For the past ten years, he has been under the guidance and tutelage of Shri Tiruvarur Girish, a descendant and torch-bearer of the traditional Veena Dhanammal baani of Carnatic Music. Sashank has performed concerts at venues across North America including the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, CMANA - New Jersey, SRUTI-Pennsylvania, YSL-Jersey, Sarvashree Foundation - Iowa, Shruthilaya - New York, Bharathi Kala Manram - Toronto, and other local organizations in the Northeast. Sashank was also a recipient of the Indian Raga Fellowship in 2015. An avid jazz musician , pianist and saxophonist, he is the founder and Lead Saxophonist of Trading Four, an award-winning combo group that performs regularly at jazz events and festivals. He is also the Assistant Music Director for Fanaa, a South Asian a cappella group on the Penn State main campus. He aims to bring elements from various musical styles together via original fusion compositions and medleys.
